BOOSTRIX (Whooping Cough Vaccination)
BOOSTRIX is a vaccine that protects against pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, and diphtheria. Available at Unichem Petone Pharmacy.
Who Should Get It?
- Pregnant women (between 16–38 weeks of pregnancy, recommended every pregnancy)
- Adults in close contact with newborns (parents, grandparents, caregivers)
- Anyone whose last tetanus vaccine was more than 10 years ago
Why Is It Important?
Whooping cough is a serious, contagious respiratory illness, particularly dangerous for babies under 1 year old who cannot be fully vaccinated themselves. Vaccinating those around babies — known as the cocoon strategy — helps protect them.

Free for pregnant women. Other adults may pay a fee — ask us about current pricing.
