HPV Vaccination
We offer the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine at Unichem Petone Pharmacy. HPV is a common virus that can cause several types of cancer including cervical, anal, penile, and certain head and neck cancers.
Who Should Get It?
Recommended for everyone aged 9–26. Funded under the National Immunisation Schedule for those aged 9–26 (one course of two doses for those starting before age 15, three doses for those starting at 15 or older).
People aged 27+ may also benefit — talk to us.
Why Is It Important?
HPV vaccination prevents the infections that cause most cervical cancers and several other cancers. It is most effective when given before exposure to the virus.
How Is It Given?
Either 2 or 3 doses depending on starting age, given over 6–12 months.
